Look What I Found!

January 29, 2019

January Full Moon

Hey y'all, it's me!

I am always amazed at the things I find when I go walking. I have found glove pairs, tools, pocket knives, cash, etc. Sunday I really hit the jackpot.

When church was over Sunday, I decided to walk home, since it wasn't that cold, plus I had on my big blanket coat, scarf and gloves. I took off, walked the highway to the country roads, then headed to my old country lane to get to my home.

I was walking along, just singing and enjoying a nice day, when my eyes looked to my left, and saw something in the ditch. I looked closer, and saw it was...

I stopped, picked it up and checked it over. It seemed okay, if only to use for a dog blanket. I threw it over my arm and finished going home. I washed it yesterday, and after it dried I examined it again.

I was amazed. This isn't some cheap mass produced quilt--look at the hand stitching. You can tell that whoever made this didn't just go buy some 'fat quart…

I'm Back!

Hey y'all, it's me!

Yes, I am finally back after a 21 fast from the computer and the internet, along with a Daniel Fast. It was an awesome experience. It was actually kind of hard to get back on the laptop afterward.

I spent the last 21 days completely immersed in fasting, prayer, scripture, praise and worship, and just enjoying the Lord's presence in a fresh way. I don't think I took as many notes in college as I did during all the studying I did with this time.

I spent a lot of time just talking with God, asking Him to show me His plan for my life, to give me wisdom in every area, especially in my relationship with the Redneck and Obie.

It was such a change, with no internet spewing forth all the time. I will be far more discerning in what I allow on my screen in the future. I seriously didn't miss being online, except the occasional, "I need to look that up" moment. I would then realize I had t…

Unintentional No Spend January

January 5, 2019

Hey y'all, it's me!

I've never really done a no spend period of time, never felt the need to do so. However, due to the financial ups, downs, and whoopsie daisies of the last few months of 2018, we have found ourselves in the middle of a 'forced' no spend month.

While we have paid bills and bought groceries (including what I will personally need for doing the Daniel Fast Beginning Monday) and feed for horses, dogs and cats, there will be very little money left for extras until we get securely back into our regular routines and work schedules--probably by the beginning of February.

So we have cut the month's budget to the bone for now. This means no visiting thrift stores or yard sales, no picking up extra treats at the grocery store, no going out to eat.

No problem.

We are willing to do this because we all know that we are so close to getting completely out of debt, with only the truck and house remaining. We have learned and honed the skills w…

HAPPY 2019!!!!!!!

Fraidy Cat in her favorite box.
Hey y'all, it's me!

I am happy to report that the projectile vomit, fevers and coughing have left the building, and we are all feeling fine at the start of a new year. I hope this post finds everyone else just as fit as a fiddle and twice as feisty.

So, a brand spanking shiny new year. Filled with potential and promise. I may not do resolutions, but I always sort of stand in awe of the clean slate that marks the change of years. I know that as the year progresses, all the joy, sorrow, pain, and other aspects of daily living will wear the shiny off the new toy, and bring the desire for another new year to 'get it right'.

I have set a few goals for 2019. I don't do resolutions, because they wear out fast, and sort of perpetuate a cycle of "I can do it!", "Oh man, I am failing", "I can do it!" "Oh man I am failing," ad nauseum. Over and over. Instead I set a goal that is realistic…
