No Posts Till New Year--Illness At Our House This Week

December 23, 2019

Hey y'all, it's me.

I am posting today to let y'all know that I won't be posting again until the New Year. Obie is sick, and I am trying to get him feeling good enough to get to go to his father's for Christmas. I don't want to pull the plug on his visit, it would break his heart. Prayers for his speedy recovery are greatly appreciated.

The Redneck is having respiratory problems also, lots of lung hacking and use of his nebulizer.

So far I am the only one who doesn't feel like death gumming an Oreo, so I am manning the fort, so to speak. taking care of everyone else.

I didn't want anyone to worry if they don't hear from me for a bit. I also want to wish all of you wonderful people a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for reading and commenting on my blog.

Well, I got chores. Later y'all.

Money Saving Adventures For Last Week

Sunday morning sunrise

Hey y'all, it's me!

Busy week, busier weekend. We got to bed around midnight Saturday, got up 5 am Sunday, got to church early, and I began my work in the fellowship hall kitchen to prepare for Grub Sunday lunch. Had a wonderful time, great food and fellowship. Got home around 2 in the afternoon, and we all passed out for 3 hours. Today we are back on schedule, and I will be cleaning house, doing laundry, and prepping for the Christmas weekend. Obie and I are going to Lighthouse Assembly Wednesday night for their Christmas party, and I am making caramel popcorn to take. I love my life!

Okay, on to Money Saving Adventures for last week.

I sold a bunch of cans, made $3.75. That went towards a few extra purchases that I made, including a stop at the garage sale around the corner from me on Wednesday. I like to stop in at these sales, because the gentleman always has neat stuff that is often useful.

Found the Redneck a sleeveless t shirt f…

Money Saving Adventures For Last Week

December 9, 2018

Hey y'all, it's me!

I hope everyone had a great week. Mine was pretty darn good to say the least.

We didn't make it to our church this morning. The Redneck had bad sleep last night and was too tired to move around much. Plus the weather was wonky enough to make me question the wisdom of driving an hour to services, so we made the decision to stay in Bowie. The Redneck went back to bed to try and catch up on the sleep he missed, and since I was already dressed for church, Obie and I went to Lighthouse Assembly Church, where we go on Wednesday nights. It was a great sermon, and I feel like God had worked it out so I could hear a few things I had been wondering about for a while.

So, what money saving adventures have I got for you this week?

Last week a friend at church brought us a bunch of comforters and other bedding. I found one that is perfect for our bedroom, the colors match, and it is perfect for snuggling under in this cold weather. I still have the…

Join Me For EXTREME 19!!!!!!!!

Hey y'all, it's me!

Well, 2018 is winding down, just 3 more weeks until the new year. By now a lot of folks are making up their list of resolutions to lose weight, make a million bucks, etc.

Not me.

I learned a long time ago that resolutions are a waste of time. In fact, from every thing I have ever experienced, they actually set you up to fail.

So I stopped making them.

Instead, I set goals to work towards, at a pace that won't burn me out or be unrealistic. The nice thing about goals is that I don't have to wait for some arbitrary date to begin. I can start anytime I want.

It takes a lot of pressure off of me.

I have been setting some goals that will be best if started off after the new year begins, when all the holidays are through and life settles back into a much calmer format. I will share those later when I get started on each one.

For now, I wanted to share that I am setting myself a goal--more of a challenge really, for a 2019 Extreme Frugality Challenge. I w…

Hey y'all, it's me!

I told you how Obie got a hot dog cooker in the church Christmas party gift exchange. Well...

I think he is enjoying it! Look at that face, you can tell he is anticipating the second those dogs pop up!

Well, I got chores. Later y'all.

Money Saving Adventures For Last Week

December 2, 2018

Hey y'all, it's me!

It's been a great weekend. We went to our church's Christmas party last night, and we had a blast. It was held in the barn of one of our members. A really NICE barn--cement floor, clean, with propane heaters and a lighting system. We all brought handmade ornaments for the tree. I made several paper ones from old gift bags from last year and hot glue.

Of course we had a gift exchange, and there was lots of laughter and 'stealing' of gifts. The gifts had to be $10.00 or less, and I sure had that covered with all the freebies and other bargains I found through the year.

I have been wanting a Himalayan Salt Lamp for a long time, and I was able to get a small one last night. It had a USB cord for plugging it into my laptop, but that's not how I want to use it. Fortunately I had an adapter so I can now plug it into the wall. That little sucker is BRIGHT.

Obie 'stole' a Hot Dog and Bun Toaster. You can cook two dogs an…
