Money Saving Adventures For Last Week

November 25, 2019

Sunset on a cold Texas afternoon

Hey y'all, it's me!

As I sit here at my dining room table on the Sunday after Thanksgiving 2018, I am overwhelmed with a sense of gratitude for all the blessings in my life, courtesy of my Heavenly Father. The Bible says that God will take care of me:

"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus" Philippians 4:19
I can look back on the past year and see massive evidence of the truth in this verse. The Lord has provided more for me and my family than I can ever be able to describe. As an extension of my being blessed, He has also blessed beyond measure my church family, my friends, and strangers whom I may never meet. I hope that by my little posts that I write here in the blog that I am able to bless, inspire and encourage those of you who read them.
Okay, now that I have said what's on my heart today, let's get started on my adventures for last week.
Down the road …

Happy Thanksgiving, And A Statement For Homemakers

November 22, 2018

Hey y'all, it's me!

First of all, I want to wish all my dear readers a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving today. I am thankful for every single one of you who has stopped by to read my humble blatherings and, hopefully find something that you can use for your own journey in life. I am thankful for the one timers, who simply read and then move on, and I am really thankful for the folks who keep coming back and reading about my adventures, and then take the time to comment and encourage. Thank you all.

I was doing some decluttering of old paperwork, and I came across a poster that I had made when I was a full time massage therapist. I had seen the words on a pizza parlor counter, and decided that it fit my work in massage, so I made my own poster for my clinics.

Today I saw my old poster, and I realized that it really fits what we as homemakers do every day. As much as I love YouTube and other web sites, as much as I enjoy the many tools and gadgets that God has g…

I DID IT!!!!!!

November 20, 2018

Hey y'all, it's ME!!!

I just officially validated my final word count for the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) Challenge. I finished my novel on November 19, 2018, with:

50,012 words!
I am actually in shock--I honestly didn't know if I could do this, but I did! And I did it in 18 days! I know I finished on the 19th, but I took the first Sunday of November off to spend with friends.
The funniest thing was when I was finished for the day, and my word program said that I had 50,086 words. I was elated, and even though I couldn't do the official validation until the 20th, I wanted to post my word count progress. When I did, I noticed a little button to click on to validate my count, so I clicked on it, then I pasted my entire novel into the little space and hit 'validate'.
I was horrified to see that according to the site's counter, I only had 49,205 words. Apparently, this happens sometimes--the site counter will not jive with someone…

Money Saving Adventures For Last Week

November 18, 2019

Hey y'all, it's me!

A quick NaNoWriMo update--as of  last night I have written 45,355 words of my 50,000 goal. If I can write 3,000 words today and 3,000 more tomorrow, I will be able to  post and validate my word count at midnight tomorrow night, which is the earliest you can do it. Then I will 'win' NaNoWriMo for 2018!

But first, I must write a post for you, my dear readers, so that you may be inspired to reach for ever higher peaks of frugal living. And here we go!

I honestly didn't get out to do a lot of 'active' saving this last week. Instead I stayed home and worked on my novel. I spent about 3-4 hours a day writing. That and keeping the house running doesn't leave a lot of room for anything else!

Remember when I began to create an emergency savings envelope a few months back? I had saved up $100.00 so far. Well, it has already been proven to be a great idea, because this last week we needed the money as a back up. You see, due …

My NaNoWriMo Word Update And An Observation About The Freedom Of Deadlines

November 14, 2018

Fraidy watches a bird out the front window
Hey y'all, it's me!

Just a quick update on my challenge word count.

As of last night, when I finally shut down the laptop (and put that sucker away--I did NOT want to see a keyboard any more until today), I had written 4,669 words in one day, the most I have done in a day during this insanity known as National Novel Writing Month.

My grand total as of last night was 32,009 words.

I am  three fifths of the way to my goal of 50,000 words.

I have never gotten this far in writing a novel before. I have always gotten great 'what if' ideas, even gone so far as to write down the first scene. Yet I could never get the rest of the story, it would just peter out.

I have had scads of time to write before, yet I never did much. I have written blogs, poems, essays, a couple of short stories, and so forth. The blogs posts are easy, because I know that I must produce a post every week on certain days, so I buckle down and …

Money Saving Adventures For Last Week

November 11, 2018

Hey y'all, it's me!

First of all...I have to announce that I have reached the half way mark in my NaNoWriMo Challenge. 25,065 words!
Whew! No time to celebrate however, I still have until November 30 to finish the 50,000 goal.
So onto last week's adventures.
I don't have an outdoor faucet, so I had been having to go inside the well house to  hook up a hose to water my horses, and that meant I had to go inside my stud horse's corral. Rascal is a good horse, but he is also mischievous, so he would bug the heck out of me while I was trying to get the door open on the well house, he would bite the hose and try to take it away, grab my shirt and not let me go anywhere. Nothing really bad, but stuff that made me have to use more time to get simple chores done.
I had the idea to use the water source in my laundry room, that runs into my washing machine. I bought a simple faucet splitter, and screwed it onto the laundry room faucet, then put the washing…

Money Saving Adventures For Last Week

November 5, 2019

Hey y'all, it's me!

Well, I'm 5 days in on the National Novel Writing Month Challenge (NaNoWriMo), and even with taking Sunday off, I officially have 6,825 words written. My unofficial count with the words I had already written before the challenge began is now 11,374 words. Not bad! I have set a goal of 2,000 words a day, so I can rest up on Sundays, plus be able to take Thanksgiving off. It takes about 2-3 hours a day to crank out 2,000 words, and still allows me to get things done around the house. I confess, I have been tempted to just insert a paragraph every now and then that just says, "I don't have clue what I'm doing. I don't have a clue what I'm doing. I don' get the idea. But I haven't given in to it yet--let's hope I stay the course and complete this insane challenge I have set myself for November.

Okay, on to money saving adventures.

We ate up a lot of the leftovers from the auction lunch last Sunday--r…

First Official NaNoWriMo Word Count--And My Actual Total

Nov 1, 2018

Hey y'all, it's me!

I finished my first day of the National Novel Writing Month Competition. As of now my official word count for NaNoWriMo is 1,812 words.

However, as I mentioned in my video yesterday, I had already begun writing a while back, so I had over 4,000 words already. Since I can only input my total for the days of the event, I will keep track of the actual total here and on my Blessed In Bowie channel on YouTube. As of today my novel has a grand total of:

6,361 words
Only 48,369 words to go!
It took a couple of sessions of writing lasting about 45 minutes each. I confess I kept hitting the calculator every so often, doing the math to see if I had hit my daily goal.
Well, I got chores. Later y'all. © Evelyn Edgett 2018
