Bad News, Good News

October 12, 2018

Hey y'all, it's me!

A big ol' pile of purr

The bad news is, our church's annual trail ride to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Hospital has been cancelled due to excessive rain. The ranch where we hold it is pretty much a swamp right now. I know that many of the riders who come from all over the country for this event would still be willing to ride in a hurricane (and trust me, their horses would love it), but it's just too dangerous.

This is the first time we ever had to cancel it. They will do the drawings for the various raffle items and notify the winners. Also, they will hold the auction in a week or so at the church bunkhouse, along with a dinner to raise more money.

It's a bummer, but it is what it is.

So what's the good news?

I had arranged for Obie to go to his father's over the weekend, since I didn't know what the weather would be like. Plus it's a treat for his birthday this month.

He's still going over there tonight, so the Redneck and I will have some alone time for a weekend.

As much as I'm disappointed over no trail ride, the thought of a cozy, rainy weekend alone with  my beloved holds much appeal.

So I will relax, not freak out over a cancelled event, and be thankful for the unexpected gift of a quiet weekend. I will wish my son and his father a happy time together when he leaves. I will spend some much needed time alone with the Redneck.

I. Will. Breathe.

Well, I got chores. Later y'all.

  1. That is too bad when people come from all over. I am happy you can see a bright spot.

    1. Well, I could throw a pity party, but the food is awful and no one brings cool presents.
