The Redneck Gets A New Coffee Maker, And I Love My New Zoodle Maker

May 10, 2018

Hey y'all, it's me!

Last Sunday the Redneck's beloved coffee maker died a tragic death, chugging and sputtering out its last pot of 'Redneck Plasma'.

Since the Redneck has been drinking coffee since he was a little kid, this was a full tilt disaster. So after church we had to go buy him a new one.

I don't drink coffee, because honestly, I am hyper enough, and I don't need additional 'oomph' to my day. But I don't mind making it for the guys. The Redneck knows this, so in order to make my brewing a more pleasant experience, he chose this cute red Mr. Coffee machine. It matches my microwave at the other end of the kitchen. I have been working on putting brighter colors in my work space, since the cabinets are dark stained wood. I love them, but I want a pop of color every so often. I enjoy setting up my newest 'employee' each night in preparation for the next day. The Redneck takes my preferences into consideration, and I love him for it.

Last week I got a new, in the box spiralizer free at the local thrift store sale. I tried it out a couple of nights later making supper for Obie and I.

Here it is, all the parts fit together to store in a small space. Three different blades give slightly different types of zoodles. It's easy to use and easy to hand wash.

I used the mid sized blade, and two medium zucchini gave me a nice pile of zoodles, with a few leftover pieces, which I popped into a container to be chopped up and sautéed for another meal later.

I poured about a tablespoon of olive oil into a pan, and sautéed sliced onions and yellow bell peppers.

I added in the zoodles, and cooked them until they were done but with still a bit of crunch. Then I poured some oriental style salad dressing over it and mixed it up.

I steamed a big bunch of fresh spinach to go along with the meal.

And voila! I sprinkled raw hemp hearts over the dish, and it was delicious. We both ate a lot of the food, and were filled up enough that we didn't feel the need for a snack later while watching a movie. The oriental dressing gave it a good flavor. I will be trying more veggies in the spiralizer as we go along.

Anyone have any suggestions and recipes to share in the comments below?

Well, I got chores. Later y'all.
