Money Saving Adventures For Last Week

May 28, 2018

Hey y'all, it's me!

First, Happy Memorial Day, and Happy 2nd Homeaverssary to my family. It's been two years since we settled into our home here in Bowie.

I have had a wonderful weekend by myself, as Obie went to his father's, and the Redneck went on a church trail ride. I never turned on the radio or CD player, and it was lovely and quiet. I got a lot of projects done outside, and got the house caught up from my time of being sick. I watched some old episodes of Jonathan Creek, a BBC television show I had downloaded to a flash drive. I ate simply and slept well. As the time of my delicious solitude comes to an end, I will get this post done and await the return of my guys.

As I posted last week, I made Poor Man's Sausage from black eyed peas to save money on breakfast.

I used my Tuesday 5% Senior Discount at Brookshires, along with a clearance marked batch of 8 limes for only 25 cents, and a bag of green beans for $1.01. I also found a container of citric acid for less than $5.00 so I can make dish washer detergent.

Thursday night I wanted chocolate ice cream, but I didn't want to get out to the store, so I used Nutella, frozen bananas and some milk to make a version in the blender. It was great. I already had frozen bananas, milk in the fridge, and A jar of Nutella that a friend had passed on to me in the pantry. I will definitely be making it again.

I earned another $5.00 Amazon gift card, so I used part of my account to order a new Kindle book for the family, and then I did a search and found the movie Alien Nation on DVD for a good price and free shipping. I don't make a lot of money doing surveys and searches, but it pays for e books, music, and other little splurges. I hope to be earning enough to order the television series Alien Nation this month. I loved that show.

As you can see, there weren't a whole lot of impressive adventures in money saving last week, but as I always say, it all adds up.

Well, I got chores. Later y'all.

  1. What a wonderful weekend! I hope you feel refreshed, and ready for the week ahead:). It sounds like you had a lot of good ideas about what to do, and did them, which is amazing. Sometimes, when I do get some time to myself, I kind of run around in circles for a while because I'm not used to having spare time. It is always so good to get extra cleaning and projects done.

    1. I've had my moment of free time with no clue what to do in it too! Usually, I take a nap or clean something. I had been planning this last weekend for months, so I had a pretty good handle on what I wanted to do. I do feel more invigorated today!
