A delay in blog land--then a breakthrough!

January 23, 2017

Hey ya'll, it's me!

Well, I thought I would have photos for the blog by now, but circumstances are not working out to MY taste, and the camera I bought had to be returned for technical problems...fuddle.

However, yesterday I was talking to Adam, the son of our preacher, and when he heard my problem with getting a camera, he said, "Well, I have a CANON that I never use. It has a tripod. I'll bring it next Sunday, and if it's something you can use...(wait for it) You can have it."

Picture me with mouth hanging open.

Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to trust in the Lord with all our heart, don't lean on our own understanding, acknowledge Him in ALL our ways, and He will make our paths straight.

I spent a lot of time searching for a camera I could use for blogging and my Youtube channel. I SETTLED for ordering a tiny camera that was inexpensive. It didn't work. I was frustrated, but told God I would wait on Him to show me what to do. That attitude led to my getting offered a much better camera, and a tripod--for free.

I love how God lets me bang my head against a wall, trying to do everything myself, and when I finally let HIM do what I can't, it's always greater than anything I can come up with. Even with cameras.

Well, the laundry isn't going to fold itself,

New Year, New Blog!

January 18, 2017

Hey ya'll, it's me!

Welcome to Blessed In Bowie--a blog about my life in Bowie, Texas--the day to day life of a stay at home wife and mom. I plan to post tips, tricks, recipes, reviews, photos, videos and philosophy of life, all based on Scripture.

I'm about to turn 60 (I think that's so cool). I've been married to the world's cutest Redneck for 20 years. We're not together because of my looks or his money. We have neither, so it's gotta be love. I have a beautiful son whom I adopted almost 30 years ago. He's an adult with special needs, and he is the joy of my life.

I had a blog for several years, but it was started when my family lived in the mountains of South Eastern Oklahoma, so when I moved back to Texas, it didn't have the same feel. Even when I spent another 18 months back in the mountains before settling here in Bowie, it just wasn't the same, so I closed it out. I figured I was done with blogging.

After moving to our new home on Memorial Day in 2016, I spent the following months getting it organized and even a little bit decorated. I sought out local resources--grocery stores, library, feed stores, churches, restaurants, and thrift stores.Oh honey, do we have thrift stores!

After a time I found myself mentally composing reviews of businesses, products, and DIYs. I thought okay, I'll do another blog, but what do I call it?

Then one day it came to me. Blessed In Bowie! It describes my life to a tee. Is my life perfect? Of course not, and anyone who SAYS their life is perfect is either delusional or lying to impress. I have good days, great days, bad days, and some days I just yell to heaven, "WHAT?!?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME LORD?"

So I have begun blogging anew. Hopefully you will enjoy accompanying me as I run the household, raise my son and try not to shoot the Redneck (kidding), all while praising God for letting me be Blessed In Bowie.

Well, are you coming along?
